Sound analysis task

https://youtu.be/rW23RsUTb2Y?si=-JAwsaEjEk2J1MZI Jaws(1975) In the clip, there is a combination of diegetic and non diegetic sounds which creates suspense and fear. The non-diegetic sound is seen from the low-pitched repetitive music playing from when the shark approaches its next victim. The music playing slowly gets louder building up more tension and suspense. The music played is used as a sign of danger warning the audience of what's to come creating fear. The diegetic sound is seen from the people talking and the splashing water. The joyful sounds from the children playing contrasts with the shark music later on. This clip also displays use of parallel sound for example the music used for the appearance of the shark. The repetitive music used matches the danger that is shown in the scene. The sound matches the scenery creating a sense of urgency. This clip also involves contrapuntal sounds which is seen from the contrasts of the peaceful sounds of the beach to when the sha...

Film & TV Language index

Film & TV Language index Keeping an index of all your work is extremely good practice from a revision perspective. Not only does this keep the concepts and media terminology fresh in your mind but it will also highlight if you've missed anything through absence. Your index should currently include the following: 1) Film poster analysis 2) Mise-en-scene analysis blog tasks 3) Mise-en-scene video recreation and learner response 4) Lighting analysis blog tasks 5) Sound practical task 6) Sound: parallel and contrapuntal video feedback and learner response 7) Sound analysis blog tasks

Film & TV Language: Sound video feedback and learner response

  1) -Needs some clips added - video not embedded  2) -Good song choice to match the nature scenery  -Good variety of photos -Photos contrast well -transitions were good -no watermarks -found images 3) WWW- Smooth transitions added -Good contrapuntal images -High res images -Clear contrast  EBI - Use videos - Own videos and pictures would be preferrable - No description 4) I think the best video was Sapphire's as she had included high res images and videos, had taken videos and photos with a camera rather than a phone, good use of sound as it was parallel to the images and a very detailed description. 5) What I have learnt from the importance of sounds is that they determine the narrative of certain scenes whether they are humourus or serious.

Film poster analysis

Image
1.Blade Runner -science-fiction and thriller genre The poster uses mise-en-scene such as machinery and weapons to reinforce the futuristic setting. The dark setting and unusual imagery establishes a world different from the audiences. This image uses low-key lighting which creates shadows and a threatening atmosphere. This poster communicates narrative as the composition places the main character in the centre suggesting his importance to the narrative. 2.Scary Movie 2-horror genre This image uses typical horror conventions which is seen from the dark colours, creepy characters and frightened facial expressions from the characters. This poster communicates narrative as the mise-en-scene contains a group of unusual and exaggerated characters. The slogan reinforces a comedic tone suggesting the film will exaggerate horror conventions. 3.Uzak-serious drama The poster uses a colour palette of grey, white, blue and dark brown. This creates a cold and serious atmosphere. This poster co...
